People, Peace and Possibilities.
Real change begins within ourselves and, at the most local level, our communities are strongest when we show up for each other. I believe that peace means meeting people’s basic needs - dignified access to healthy food, clean water, housing, education, healthcare, and work - and ending the reckless spending that keeps us trapped in never-ending wars.
Let’s face it - our representatives are not meeting our needs. We don’t need more politicians who answer to corporations instead of their constituents. This is why I am not accepting any corporate dollars during my campaign.
Our climate, our youth, our future as a country, and the future of the world depends on our ability to invest in peace.
I believe in peace,
I believe in people,
I believe in possibilities,
I believe in you,
And I believe we are stronger together!
I would be proud to be your representative of the 24th District.
It’s time we focus on real solutions to real issues.
Economic Justice and Equality for All
Americans are struggling. The billionaires of this country pay nothing in taxes while the average working class American can barely afford groceries. It’s time to tax fairly. It’s time to repeal Citizens United and get money out of politics. It’s time to have a government that works for the people - not the ultra wealthy.
Foreign Policy and Immigration
ICE is terrorizing our communities and causing irreparable harm. This agency is rooted in xenophobia, fear, and bigotry - it must be abolished. Immigrants make our country better and it’s time to treat these neighbors with the respect, dignity, and value they deserve.
We must take immediate action to curb our consumption and over-reliance of fossil fuels. Our country is getting dangerously behind the scientific targets meant to stop global warming. We need strong leadership with the vision to place people before profits.
The 24 th District stretches from the Ojai’s quaint quiet Arcade, through the bustling scenic streets of Santa Barbara , through the pristine picturesque beaches of Pismo, up to the inviting vineyards of San Luis Obispo. I remember when my mom would bring us from the San Fernando Valley to Santa Barbara to visit the “good” thrift shops in town. This was when there used to be a stop sign on Highway 101 to enter Santa Barbara.
Beyond the natural beauty of the Central Coast, one can appreciate the richness of the diversity of various communities that live here. As an LA Times journalist, I was fortunate to meet numerous people as I worked documenting news and feature stories in the various neighborhoods of Ventura County. Our District has so much to offer and we can learn from each other’s rich cultures and traditions; The Chumash , Santa Barbara’s Fiesta Week, Artist Communities, our County Fairs, and Regenerative Farmers just to name a few. And we must not forget our highly recognized Universities and Colleges that call this region home, offering higher learning for tens of thousands of students from California, out of state, and internationally as well. .
There is always a festival, workshop, farmers’ market, or community gathering to get involved in. As your representative, I would like to promote more collaboration in our neighborhoods to build stronger, more peaceful communities.
